1940’s Noir Film made for $750 in Sarasota, Florida

During my junior year at Ringling College, I was chosen to produce “Seaside Bebop,” a crime noir proof-of-concept short. The film presented an intimidating challenge for my first big producing role…create a 1940’s world within a budget of $750. To achieve the period-accurate look, I outsourced to local theaters that were generous enough to let us film in their venues for free, and lend us costumes and props at a discounted price. This project allowed me to creatively solve problems and lead a team to create the 1940s atmosphere for the film coherently. I outsourced for talent and also managed to find a piano a day before shooting for free. The film has gone on to screen at multiple film festivals across the United States, like Indie X, and even screened at the TCL Chinese Theatre for the Golden State Film Festival.
